Writing comes in many different forms, but whether you’re tweeting or applying for a job, there’s a lot to think about including grammar, spelling, structure, and audience. Students at Mentora start with basic writing including writing an email to a friend or writing a letter for business purposes. In the advanced courses, students learn the collegiate level academic skills they will need to be successful in university. Students learn many forms of essays such as compare and contrast, cause and effect, and narrative essays as well as how to use sources to support their arguments while avoiding plagiarism. As students move from level to level, their writing assignments are collected into a personal writing portfolio so they can clearly track their development and improvement.
